Atlanta police seek help in locating car that clipped officer

Atlanta police are seeking help in locating a charcoal Nissan Maxima with an Arkansas tag that they say clipped a city police officer after a traffic stop Friday night.

The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with minor injuries after the incident, which occurred night in the area of Joseph E. Lowery near Atlanta Student Movement boulevards in southwest Atlanta, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The APD officer, who was conducting a joint patrol with a Morehouse police officer, initiated the traffic stop. Police say the driver and passenger tried to flee from the car. The officers then tried to pursue them on foot.

The driver was able to circle back to the car and drive off, striking the Atlanta police officer.
