MONDAY’S WEATHER | Hot and humid
It’s going to be another extremely hot day in metro Atlanta.
The high today will be in the low to mid 90s, but with humidity brought in by weekend rain, it will feel more like the upper 90s in the metro. Further south into Central Georgia, the heat index — an accurate measure of how hot it really feels taking both air temperature and relative humidity into account — is expected to reach up to 108 degrees.
“It’s going to be one of those days where we’re going to heat up very quickly,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said. “If you have any flexibility in your plans, get out early in the day. Otherwise, make sure you’re staying hydrated, and if you’re out during the peak heating of the day, find some shade. Head indoors, cool off underneath the AC.”
Skies will be mostly sunny with a few clouds filtering in through the afternoon. A stray shower or two can’t be ruled out, but overall, the chance remains low at just 20%.
Rain chances stay around 20% through Thursday when chances go up to 30% for a scattered thunderstorm on the Fourth of July.
The weekend is looking like it’s shaping up to be a soggy one, too. There is a 40% chance of thunderstorms Friday through Sunday.
