Henry County Schools plans to make navigation of the district easier for new students and their parents with the creation of a welcome center service.

The service, part of the Henry County Learning and Support Center, will help newcomers with registration paperwork, signing up for the parent portal, transportation needs, language services, school nutrition forms, and community resources.

“We want all families, especially our first-time families to be ready for school on day one, and that means making the enrollment and registration process a smooth one for families entering our school district,” Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis said in a statement.  “All processes that are vital to complete the registration process will be available in one location along with assistance from our personnel there on site.”

The first day of class for Henry’s 2021-2022 school year begins Aug. 4 and will include face-to-face instruction as well as a virtual option. The school system also will return to normal operations such as allowing visitor and volunteer access to schools as well as field trips for students, the district said.

Mask use, though encouraged, will be optional at all schools properties.

“There is no better place to learn than in Henry County Schools, and we can’t wait for our current students to return and our new students to see how exceptional our district truly is,” Henry Schools Board of Education Chairwoman Holly Cobb said.
