When a 3-year-old boy fell into an uncovered storm sewer drain in northwest Atlanta Thursday night, Duntrey Murray jumped into action.

Murray told Channel 2 Action News that he went into the sewer on Mercury Avenue after Jaylin Willis.

“I put the baby on my chest and waited until the ambulance and fire department got here, and then they pulled the baby up, then they pulled me up,” Murray said.

Jaylin was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston for treatment of a gash on the back of his head and bruises to his face, Channel 2 reported.

The sewer cover has since been replaced, according to the station.
