Sandy Springs police were investigating a shooting at an apartment complex and the later transport of a gunshot victim at a separate location to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Police spokesman Lt. Steve Rose said officers were called to Colonial Grand Apartments west of Roswell Road on Dunwoody Place after complaints of gunfire.

About 20 minutes later, an ambulance on its way from the Johns Creek area with a patient was flagged down at Glenridge Connector and Peachtree Dunwoody Road by occupants in a car who said a man had been shot. The victim, who had several wounds in his leg, was taken to Grady by another ambulance, police said. His condition was not immediately known.

Another occupant in the car was grazed by a bullet and taken to Northside Hospital. A third passenger was being questioned, but no charges had been filed, the police spokesman said.
