Let’s skip the road-crossing riddles and poultry puns, pal, and get straight to the facts: Dee Dee the Chicken is missing, and the city of Duluth would very much like to have her back.
Dee Dee — 5 1/2 feet tall, 100 pounds, striped stockings, beady eyes — was last seen Tuesday morning in the roundabout on McClure Bridge Road. A public works employee expecting to scoop up the official art week mascot and move her to a new location discovered instead that she’d flown the coop.
Officials aren’t sure if Dee Dee’s disappearance is a lily-livered prank, cold-hearted thievery or something in between.
“We don’t know where she is,” Amanda Leiba, Duluth’s marketing coordinator, said Wednesday afternoon. “At this point she’s just missing.”
Leiba said city employees, police officers and residents have been asked to keep an eye out for Dee Dee, but that no formal search parties have been arranged.
Anyone who encounters her is asked to call City Hall at 770-476-3434.
“We’re just hoping that she’ll show up somewhere,” Leiba said.
