A man died in a rollover crash near Stone Mountain Park on Thursday.
The wreck happened when a car went off the side of U.S. 78 and rolled over between Mountain Industrial Boulevard and I-285, according to DeKalb County police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent.
The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was thrown from the vehicle, Vincent said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released his name or explained how he lost control of the car.
The car's engine was no longer inside the vehicle, police said.
And investigators are unsure of the exact time of the crash, Vincent said. First responders arrived at the scene after another driver noticed the damaged guardrail and vehicle and called 911.
A DeKalb County police officer who responded to the incident said the engine was no longer in the car. It was laying next to the vehicle, according to the officer.
One right lane of U.S. 78 is blocked while investigators are at the scene, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
