One of the three men wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in June in the parking lot of a Decatur lounge was arrested last week in Gwinnett County.

Stephan Stedson Benjamin is charged with murder in the June 13 killing of Ian Garvey, 39, outside Flex Lounge in the Fox Trot Shopping Center. Gwinnett police arrested Benjamin during a traffic stop and he was taken to the DeKalb County Jail the following day, police said.

More than a month after the killing of 39-year-old Ian Garvey, DeKalb County police released photos of three men, along with their car, who are said to be linked to the incident. Two remain at large.

The day of the shooting, security cameras captured Benjamin, two other men and a car at the scene, DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said. Photos of the men and car were released more than a month after the shooting in hopes of the public identifying the suspected gunmen.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Garvey was involved in an argument with one of the men as he walked to his car in the parking lot. The man shot Garvey and then the other two men followed with more gunfire, Vincent said. The three are said to have fled in a dark gray or silver sedan.

Garvey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Benjamin was the only suspect arrested and is being held without bond. The two other men remain at large. Vincent did not release their names.

Anyone with information is asked to call DeKalb police’s homicide detectives at 770-724-7850. Tipsters can remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
