W.D. Grant Building

The historic W.D. Grant Building was recently sold and will be converted into apartments.

Grant-Prudential Building, 44 Broad Street NW, Bruce and Morgan, Architects 1898, Entered in the National Register of Historic Places, January, 1979. Narrow, vertical piers and large, horizontal banks of window spaces clearly reveal the steel-cage construction of the building. The ten-story structure was the second skyscraper in Atlanta known to be fully steel-franmed. As such, it was a progenitor of a new era of skyscraper construction in the city. It was also the first building in Atlanta to occupy a full city block. Now known as the W.D. Grant Building, the structure received an Award of Excellence from the Urban Design Commission for its rehabilitation and preservation.
