June 23, 2022 Atlanta: DeKalb County firefighters had their hands full Thursday morning, June 23, 2022 with a tractor-trailer fire at a busy intersection that shut down traffic on North Druid Hills Road and affected traffic on I-85. The flames were extinguished near the intersection of North Druid Hills and Briarcliff roads, but fire crews remained at the scene dousing the charred Walgreens truck with water. It appears a power pole fell across its trailer, crushing it. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, traffic is stopped on the westbound lanes of North Druid Hills Road from Lavista Road all the way to I-85. Traffic on I-85 North is moving slowly on the approach to the North Druid Hills Road exit as the exit ramp has backed up. Power was also affected in the area. (John Spink / John.Spink@ajc.com)
