Drivers in Sandy Springs will be slightly inconvenienced as the city paves River Valley Road between Johnson Ferry Road and Riverside Drive. Assuming the weather cooperates, paving should be finished by Sept. 17.

Work typically takes place 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and flaggers will be directing traffic. Minor delays can be expected.

Crews first begin by milling, or grinding up, the old asphalt. Following the milling process, it can take up to 7 days before paving begins and remaining cleanup takes place. Residents with sprinkler systems should ensure water is not spraying into the road.

The city is asking drivers to remain patient and use caution when driving through the work zone.
