The Johns Creek City Council, in a special called meeting Monday, approved the appointment of Assistant City Clerk Terri Lea Hugie as interim city clerk.

City Clerk Joan Jones held that post for 14 years before her retirement, which took effect Dec. 31, according to a staff report to the council. Hugie will serve as interim clerk while Johns Creek searches for Jones’ permanent successor.

“The city clerk’s responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing agendas; recording actions and producing minutes of City Council meetings; overseeing legal notices, records management and open records requests; and serving as the city’s elections official,” staff said.
