Henry students stay in school on parade day

Henry County’s public schools declared Nov. 5 to be Braves Spirit Day but did not dismiss class for the day as many other school districts in metro Atlanta did on the day of the parade honoring the World Series champions. Students and staff were encouraged to wear their Braves gear and colors while also sharing it on social media with the hashtag #BravesDayHCS. District officials acknowledged that many families would likely be planning to attend the parade and said any student absences in that case would be unexcused but without any academic penalty.
