Mika French Sushi, a Japanese hibachi restaurant in Sugar Hill, scored a 26/U on its recent health inspection.

Violations were for hand washing, inaccessible hand sinks, food contact surfaces not cleaned or sanitized, food not separated and protected.

Before the routine inspection on Oct. 25, the restaurant at 5910 Suwanee Dam Road had an A-rating with a 92 posted in 2020.

The inspector also found pink and black mold-like substance in the interior of the ice machine and observed an employee improperly washing cooking utensils. The items were rinsed with water in the vegetable sink then returned to the grill for use.

There was no measurable amount of sanitizer in the cleaning bucket used to store wiping cloths. And a sanitizer bucket at the sushi bar was not labeled. The soap at the dish sink was also not labeled and was stored in a sauce container. The mislabeling of toxic materials is a second consecutive violation for the restaurant.

Mika French Sushi, 5910 Suwanee Dam Road, will have another inspection within 10 days. The restaurant’s previous score was 92/A.
