Food temps, sink violations result in failing score
Gourmet Express, a culinary service in DeKalb County, saw its inspection score drop due to improperly stored food and violations with sinks.
During the Oct. 20 routine inspection, the hand sink was blocked by carts and inaccessible. In addition, the three-compartment sink had dirty dishes in two compartments and cooked pasta in the third, risking contamination. Managers removed the pasta and were advised to keep ready-to-eat foods in the produce sink.
The sink for prepping meals had several flies in the drain area. The inspector recommended cleaning the drain and calling in a pest control service.
Gourmet Express, 3362 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta, scored a 62/U, down from previous inspection scores this year of 89/B and 84/B.
A repeat violation was given for food not being held at proper temperatures. Two pans of rice prepared two days prior were discarded due to temperatures above 41 degrees.
Several big containers of frozen chicken, broccoli and cauliflower were thawing on the counter at room temperature, and cooked pasta and broccoli were sitting out cooling at room temperature.
