Fayette County is accepting applications for a three-year term on its Planning Commission. The five-member body hears and makes recommendations regarding zoning ordinance amendments, including rezonings and the county’s comprehensive plan. It also approves preliminary and final plats and hears requests for variances of regulations related to subdivisions, floodplains and watershed protections. The commission meets at 7 p.m. twice a month at the administrative complex at 140 Stonewall Ave. West in Fayetteville, and members are compensated $75 per meeting for a maximum of $150 per month.

The open term begins Jan. 1 and runs through Dec. 31, 2024. Candidates must be Fayette County residents who do not hold any other public office, although one commission member may be on the Zoning Board of Appeals.
