A dust-up may be brewing over an unpaved road used by Tyrone residents to enter northern Peachtree City. Tyrone Mayor Eric Dial and several other town officials held a special public information meeting on Oct. 26 to address the possibility that Crabapple Lane could be closed off at the city limits due to traffic complaints from residents of Kedron Hills.
Dial said “grumblings” began in September when the Kedron Hills Community Association expressed a desire to block cars and golf carts from entering the 194-home subdivision where Crabapple Lane, south of Dogwood Trail, meets Loring Lane. However, Dial said the road is owned and maintained by Fayette County.
Tyrone residents at the meeting expressed frustration over the prospect of restricted access to the city east of Ga. 74, given the proximity to Kedron Village Shopping Center. Dial said several legal questions remain unanswered, and he has been in contact with county and city officials about the issue.
No formal actions regarding the road’s use have yet been on the agenda of either the Fayette County Board of Commissioners or the City Council of Peachtree City.
