Originally set for Friday, Sep 17, the annual Park(ing) Day event in downtown Atlanta has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 30, according to a press release.

Park(ing) Day is an annual global event where cities temporarily transform and activate parking spaces to call attention to the need for more urban space for people. Central Atlanta Progress and the Department of City Planning for Park(ing) Day will host the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 at Peachtree Center, 225-235 Peachtree St NE.

Attendees are encouraged to explore the Peachtree Shared Space. The demonstration project along Peachtree Street between Baker and Ellis Streets showcases the ways residents can use existing space, usually designated for cars, to improve the experience of being in Downtown Atlanta. On Park(ing) Day, everyone is invited to come explore a range of free activities along all three blocks and join organizers in imagining ways Downtown can be friendlier for cars, businesses, and people.

Activities range from chalk art from the Georgia Chalk Artists guild, giant Jenga and lawn games and free mocha pops!
