Former U.S. Sen. David Perdue quickly conceded the Republican governor’s race to Brian Kemp, telling stunned supporters at his election watch party that he had just called the incumbent to congratulate him.

“I am fully supporting Brian Kemp,” Perdue said. “Tomorrow morning you are going to hear me going to work to go to work to make damn sure Stacey Abrams is not the next governor of Georgia.”

Although Perdue was quick to concede, the Trump supporters in the room weren’t ready to give up so easily.

”I’m disappointed,” said Rich Thompson.

Thompson, a Fulton County Republican, wouldn’t commit to voting for Kemp in November. And he raised the possibility that something nefarious might have happened in Tuesday’s vote, too: ”Let’s just say I don’t think this was a fair election. We’ve been down this road before.”

Deborah Liev, a Cobb County Trump supporter, predicted Kemp’s victory will now ensure a Democratic victory in November.

”I’ll tell you right now, the Trumpsters, the hard core Trumpsters, will not vote for Kemp.”
