Winner: Best taco in Atlanta 2020

WINNER: This is the best taco in metro Atlanta

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is committed to continuing our normal features, where appropriate, during the coronavirus outbreak. For full coverage of the outbreak in Atlanta, please check our Coronavirus News Section. We have decided to continue Best of Atlanta voting for the time being, despite social distancing. We encourage our readers to support local businesses after the authorities loosen the social distancing rules — along with supporting those businesses that offer delivery or pickup during the outbreak.

Thanks to Glen Bell and his Taco Bell chain, you can get a taco without leaving your car. That’s handy during the coronavirus pandemic.

But Atlanta’s favorite tacos aren’t from a chain.

We asked AJC readers to pick the best tacos in metro Atlanta, and the voting was close.

In seventh place was Mi Barrio on Memorial Drive in Atlanta.

Tied for fifth were El Felix, which has locations at Battery Atlanta in Cobb County and Avalon in Alpharetta, and has transitioned to Superica; and El Taco Veloz, which opened in November 1991 in the heart of Buford Highway.

Tied for third were Bartaco, with its upscale street food with a coastal vibe, and Taqueria El Rey Del Taco, which has been making “authentic Mexican food for the past 15 years.”

» Recipe: Slow Cooker Lime Pork Tacos

Second place went to Tacos La Villa, which some call “one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in town.”

The 2020 winner of best taco in metro Atlanta is once again Taqueria del Sol in DeKalb. Taqueria del Sol won last year with 25% of the votes, and improved that to 27% this year.
