The first time Jamie Dean visited a 1930s home for sale in Brookhaven, she thought, “Oh, it needs way too much work.”

She and her husband, David, continued on their house hunt, but they kept thinking of the Brookhaven home on an acre, across from Capital City Club.

“After searching and searching, house after house after house, we finally said, ‘We love this property,’” she said.

They embarked on a year-and-a-half of renovations to the home, which can be seen on the Oct. 1 Historic Brookhaven Candlelight Tour of Homes. The tour is a fundraiser for the two Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses.
