Trees Atlanta sponsors 13th annual tree sale

Buying a sapling from the Trees Atlanta annual tree sale Saturday can help keep you cool, in more ways than one.

October is a good month for tree planting, and a new tree in the yard offers a lifetime of shade — and lower heating bills. The tree sale, at which more than 200 varieties are available, including natives and exotics, also raises funds for Trees Atlanta, a non-profit that plants trees and conserves trees around the city, 88,000 of them at last count. Those trees keep the rest of your neighborhood cooler as well.

Saturday’s sale is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Reynoldstown neighborhood, and will also include tree care demonstrations, food trucks, live entertainment and a petting zoo featuring the kudzu-eating sheep from Ewe-niversally Green. Also for sale will be multiple varieties of plants and tree-friendly vines. 225 Chester Ave., Atlanta, GA 30316. 404-522-4097; treesatlanta.org/
