Kid-friendly with room to grow

After living in five homes in seven years, Mark and Elizabeth Lamback knew what they wanted in a home.

“We needed a home that our family could grow in. Family is very important to us and we wanted lots of places and spaces for our children to play in,” Mark said. “We bought this home with our children in mind. In addition to having lots of spaces in the home and in the backyard to play, we feel like they have a great community to interact with, as well here in Dunwoody.”

Dunwoody also is close to  where the Lambacks work; , where they attend Dunwoody United Methodist Church (Mark is director of its youth music program) and is walking distance from Kingsley Racquet and Swim Club.

“We feel like we are a big part of our community here in Dunwoody,” he said.

Snapshot

Residents: Mark and Elizabeth Lamback and children Katherine, 5, and Samuel, 3 . Mark is choral director at Dunwoody High School. Elizabeth is the orchestra director for the upper and middle schools at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School.

Location: Windover Estates, Dunwoody

Size: 2,500 square feet, four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths

Year built: 1972

Year bought: 2011

Architectural style: Split level

Renovations: About 40 percent of the home was redone around 1998-1999, after the home was hit by a tornado. The previous owners then added a new roof, windows and siding.

Favorite architectural feature: “We love the split-level floor plan from the upper level of the home looking into the lower level of the home,” Mark said. “The upper level has our kitchen, dining room and music room, and the lower level has the living room and children’s family room. The split level makes it easier to keep track of the children. It is also great for entertaining.”

Interior design style: Comfortable and kid-friendly.

Favorite design feature: The kitchen, which Mark said is much larger than their previous kitchens.

Favorite outdoor feature: The backyard, which includes a play set and a stone patio where the couple hangs out while watching the kids play.
