Easter is a time of spiritual renewal, but it is also a good time to add a boost to your wardrobe.

For the youngest fashion followers, the spring holiday is often an occasion for a brand-new outfit. According to a 2004 study from Textile Consumer, published by Cotton Inc., psychologists say children express brand preferences as young as age 3, which means finding just the right Easter outfit for your wee one can take a bit of planning.

Trend experts at Kohl’s department stores said traditional pastels and classic styles are the hot trends for kids this year.

“Kids’ Easter fashions are all about preppy styles in shades of pastels,” said a spokesman for Kohl’s. “Girls can incorporate these trends with pastel geometric print dresses or contemporary plaid capris. Boys will look classic cool when pairing a traditional polo and sweater vest combo with casual khaki cargo shorts for an updated yet dressy look.”

Add a special pair of shoes, such as metallic sandals or embellished ballet flats for girls, and shiny black buckled loafers or casual lace-ups for boys, and the look is complete.

Just be prepared for lots of input from your pint-size fashion plate.
