A sofa from Pottery Barn and chairs from Scott Antique Markets continue the clean neutral theme from the kitchen into the den, while long drapes from Drape 98 give the den a sense of height. An easy-to-maintain rug from The Home Depot pads the floor of the living room, a feature that Becky says is important with a young son liable to make messes. A coffee table from Ashley Furniture displays home decor books and a candleholder, while tufted couches from Ashley Furniture and table lamps from Pier 1 Imports give the room its traditional, comfortable style.

Kate bought her traditional dining room table and sideboard at Scott Antique Market, but her dining room chairs cost $35 each from a secondhand store. She reupholstered them with burmese fabric by Sister Parish Design for the chair backs and Sunbrella fabric for the seats, adding a soft touch of a seafoam hue to the room, which has a rug from Stanton Carpet.

To walk the line between traditional and contemporary, homeowners Brad Resler and David Pippin installed geometric light fixtures from Ballard Designs and topped light gray servers with arched hutches in the kitchen.
