Sports bar and restaurant Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux is set to open this summer in the Battery Atlanta development next to Truist Park.

Walk-On’s will take over the former Mac McGee’s space at 950 Battery Ave. SE across from Battle & Brew and just below the Aloft Hotel, and is touted as the chain’s first “non-traditional location,” according to a news release. The 3,600-square-foot bar-centric space with a 120-seat dining room is roughly one-third the size of a traditional Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux.

The eatery will feature more than 50 TVs and items from the full Walk-On’s Cajun-inspired menu, including mozzarella logs, fried alligator, Bayou pasta, redfish tacos and a buffalo chicken sandwich.

The new location, owned and operated by Atlanta-based Port Royal Brands, will also leverage Battery Atlanta’s year-round open container policy with a walk-up bar window. It will also be among the first to feature a high-efficiency kitchen and new exterior and interior design.

Louisiana-based chain Walk-On’s opened its first location in 2003. The concept, developed by LSU walk-on basketball players Brandon Landry and Jack Warner, has since grown to more than 80 locations across the U.S., including one in Marietta that opened in 2023. Former NFL player Drew Brees is a co-owner, while Dak Prescott, Derrick Brooks, and football coach Dabo Swinney are franchisees.

Walk-On’s will join more than 15 other food and beverage concepts at Battery Atlanta including C. Ellet’s, Cultivate Food and Coffee, Garden and Gun Club, El Super Pan, Superica, Goldberg’s Fine Foods, Eataliano and Ph’east food hall. Shake Shack is set to open later this year.
