Short & Sweet at Spruill Center for the Arts
A new student and instructor exhibit arrives each quarter in the Hallway Gallery of the center’s Education Center. This time the show’s theme is fleeting moments and emotions. It’s dubbed Short & Sweet, but the list of participating artists certainly isn’t brief. More than 90 submissions from Spruill students and instructors can be seen, including tiny, copper red pots by ceramicist Linda Suskin. Each of the works, ranging from paintings and mixed media to jewelry and glass, are available for sale.
9 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays-Fridays; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Through May 16. Closing reception: 6-8 p.m. May 16. Free. Spruill Center for the Arts, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Atlanta. 770-394-3447, www.spruillarts.org.

Richard Goode at Spivey Hall at Clayton State University
The 2013 Spivey Memorial Concert showcases a pianist hailed by some critics as one of today’s best. Richard Goode has been heralded as “the supreme master of musical rhetoric” by Toronto’s The Globe and Mail. He tours all over the world keeping the music of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart and Schubert alive. The musician is known for leaving flashiness at the door and having a keen attention to detail. Goode may do just that as he puts fingertips to ivories at Spivey Hall while exploring the music of Beethoven, including three different sonatas.
3 p.m. April 28. $60. Spivey Hall, Clayton State University, 2000 Clayton State Blvd., Morrow. 678-466-4200, www.spiveyhall.org.

Drew Carey at the Punchline
The once rotund comedian slimmed down years ago, and those trademark black wide-rim glasses look even bigger these days. They’re better to see the intimate audience at the Punchline. Perhaps best known for his sitcom, “The Drew Carey Show,” and his current stint as host of the enduring TV game show, “The Price is Right,” Carey continues diversifying himself while retaining that same lovable persona and biting wit. He co-owns a soccer team, is a marathon runner, and often spins crunchy rock tunes on Little Steven’s Underground Garage channel on SiriusXM satellite radio. Yet, he’ll be digging up his stand-up comedy roots for a trio of rare shows.
8 p.m. April 26; 7 and 9 p.m. April 27. $35. The Punchline, 280 Hilderbrand Drive, Atlanta. 404-252-5233, www.punchline.com.
