Grades at 3 Fulton County schools switch to remote learning

Three grades of students at three different Fulton County schools moved to remote learning temporarily because of COVID-19 cases.

Sixth grade students at Crabapple Middle School, located in Roswell, will learn remotely from Wednesday through Sept. 10. They will return to the school building on Sept. 13.

Sixth graders at Sandtown Middle School will learn remotely from Wednesday through Sept.10. They are expected to return Sept.13.

First graders at Ocee Elementary in Johns Creek are learning remotely from Tuesday through Sept. 3. Students are expected to return to in-person learning after the Labor Day weekend on Sept. 7.

Fulton County Schools announced the changes this week.

“If circumstances dictate additional steps, we will notify the school community immediately,” the district said in an announcement posted on Twitter.

Based on a high volume of positive cases and direct contacts and having met the criteria of a Level 2 at OCEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, the FIRST GRADE is going to be in remote learning starting on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 through Friday, September 3rd. Individuals who will be 1/2

For the week of Aug. 20-26, the district reported seven COVID-19 cases at Ocee Elementary and 38 direct contacts. Employees and students who have been in direct contact with a COVID-19-positive employee or student are considered direct contacts.

At Crabapple, there were 21 cases and 15 direct contacts during that same period. At Sandtown, there were 31 cases and 89 direct contacts.

For that same week, Fulton reported a total of 892 COVID-19 cases in all its schools and offices.

The district last week sent the eighth grade class at Camp Creek Middle School and the fifth-grade class Lake Windward Elementary School into remote learning temporarily.
