The Georgia Department of Education recently singled out 11 Gwinnett County schools for improvement and student performance.

All the schools receive federal Title I funding to support high numbers of low-income students.

Baggett, Corley, Lawrenceville, Lilburn and Peachtree Elementary Schools and Sweetwater Middle School were among 157 in the state named “reward schools” for placing in the top 5% for student improvement, according to a news release from Gwinnett County Public Schools.

This year’s reward schools list is based on statewide test scores from the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years.

Berkely Lake, Harris, Knight, McKendree and Partee Elementary Schools were named “Distinguished Schools.” They were among the highest-performing 5% of Title I schools in Georgia based on spring 2019 tests, the news release said.
