State Farm, the state’s largest auto insurer, said Tuesday it plans to fill up to 800 openings in metro Atlanta by the end of the year.
The insurer will hold career fairs Aug. 6-7 to begin filling the mostly entry-level positions in claims, service and sales support functions. Other professional/technical level positions also are available.
State Farm also said a number of the positions are seeking applicants who are bilingual in Spanish.
The career fairs will be held at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North, 7 Concourse Parkway. The Aug. 6 fair will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the Aug. 7 fair will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Candidates must apply online at www.statefarm.com/careers, and should arrive early at the fairs, dressed in business attire and with a resume.
Insurance jobs accounted for one-third of the 17,000 new financial services positions created in June, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. Many insurers are hiring to prepare for key provisions of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, as they kick in.
