As Hartsfield-Jackson International prepares to develop a handful of new concessions, one firm wants to bring Shake Shack to the Atlanta airport.

CI/HH Better Burger, a partnership of Concessions International and H&H Hospitality, is proposing to open Shake Shack locations on Concourses A and B of Hartsfield-Jackson.

But there’s plenty of competition: Ten firms submitted proposals Wednesday to compete for the Concourse B hamburger concession location, while seven companies are competing for the Concourse A location. The proposals include burger outlets such as Five Guys and McDonald’s, which have other locations at the Atlanta airport.

Shake Shack, which has grown from its New York beginnings and gained a cult following, opened a highly-anticipated location at Buckhead Atlanta last year. There are also Shake Shacks at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport in the Delta terminal and at the Dubai International Airport.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
