Sales of energy drink sales are accelerating, according to UBS analyst Kaumil Gajrawala, who parsed the latest Nielsen data. The energy drink category's sales rose 5.8 percent in the month leading up to June 12. Monster's parent company, Hansen Natural Corp., saw its sales jump by 12 percent and grabbed market share from Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. Red Bull and Rockstar also continued to gain share. The energy drink portfolios of PepsiCo (including Amp) and Coca-Cola (including Full Throttle) each lost more than one percentage point of market share. The data cover food stores, drugstores and mass merchandisers, excluding Wal-Mart and convenience stores.
