An online clothing company has announced plans for a 300-worker facility in Gwinnett County.
The company, San Francisco-based thredUp, will open a distribution center and warehouse in unincorporated Gwinnett County after renovating and upgrading a building on Breckinridge Blvd., according to a release Tuesday from the office of Gov. Nathan Deal.
The company’s decision to open here was “a direct reflection of our first-rate workforce and the ease of access we provide to the company’s online customer base,” said Deal, in the release.
The new positions to be created at the facility include inspection, quality assurance and inventory and HR management, according to the release.
The company opens distribution centers “in strategic locations across the country,” with the idea of cutting the times it takes to deliver products, said John Voris, thredUp’s chief operating officer.
That advantage is especially important when shipping when it is a seasonally driven shipment, he said.
The company’s business model includes sales of clothing at discounts up to 90 percent off retail price, the company said.
