AT&T has named Decatur native Alex Parker to oversee the communications company’s retail operations in Georgia and South Carolina.

As vice president and general manager, Parker will be in charge of 82 company-owned retail locations and 1,300 employees.

Parker replaces Keith Holmes, who was named to head sales operations in the two states last November.

Parker had served as vice president for AT&T Global Service Management, responsible for customer service across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia Pacific.

He is also a former vice president of service delivery for AT&T Worldwide Customer Service.

Parker is a graduate of Georgia Tech and Saint Louis University. He worked at AT&T as a summer intern during college before joining the company in 1993.
