Alpharetta-based LexisNexis Risk Solutions said it is acquiring Health Market Science, a supplier of data on health care professionals and medical claims databases administrator.

The company said the deal will allow it to help commercial and government payers, health care providers and retail pharmacy companies better manage data and address issues including regulatory compliance, rising health care costs, coordination of care, provider performance, and fraud, waste and abuse that are “driven by inaccurate information about doctors, hospitals and health systems.”

Lee Rivas, CEO, public sector and health care, said, “The health care paradigm has shifted and requires physicians, patients and payers to link their data to get a complete view of an individual’s health.”

LexisNexis has expanded its health care portfolio over the last two years with two other acquisitions. The latest deal is part of its strategy in the health care market to help customers with fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, cost reduction and improved patient outcomes through the use of advanced data and analytics.
