State Sen. Josh McKoon got national attention during the Powerball frenzy with his proposal to let Georgia lottery winners stay anonymous if they pay a hefty "donation" toward lottery education funds.
McKoon, R-Columbus, has since tweeted that he's dropping that fee from Senate Bill 179, the AJC's Jim Galloway reported.
As it turns out, just hours before the tweet, McKoon and his idea were slammed nationally on Good Morning America by Barbara Corcoran, an on-air investor from the ABC show “Shark Tank.”
McKoon hasn’t responded to my requests to talk about the proposal and find out why he’s dropping the fee idea (though apparently he still wants to make the identities of winners a secret).
