A Houston-based company has acquired the Jay Automotive Group Inc. car dealership chain in Columbus.
Group 1 Automotive Inc. did not release financial terms of the deal with Jay Automotive. Group 1 is acquiring Jay Toyota Scion; Jay Buick GMC; Jay Subaru of Columbus; Jay Mazda; and Volvo of Columbus.
The dealerships will be renamed Rivertown Toyota; Rivertown Scion; Rivertown Buick GMC; Rivertown Subaru; and Rivertown Mazda. Volvo of Columbus will keep its same name.
Houston-based Group 1 also owns several dealerships in metro Atlanta, including World Scion and World Toyota on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Jim Tidwell Ford on Barrett Lakes Boulevard in Kennesaw.
Group 1 said the Columbus dealerships will generate an estimated $150 million annually. The company owns and operations 148 dealerships, 188 franchises and 37 collisions in the U.S., United Kingdom and Brazil.
