Lithia Springs-based Nations Roof and 14 affiliated companies have agreed to revise safety and health programs as part of a settlement after a citation from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The litigation started after the Occupational and Safety Health Administration found hazards at a Hudson, N.H., work site in 2010. Nations Roof will pay $34,750 in fines and verify correction of all hazards cited.
Under the agreement, Nations Roof will appoint safety and health directors for all of the companies, who will receive training and be certified to teach safety courses. It will develop plans at each work site, review them daily with employees, and implement daily and weekly inspections. Nations Roof will audit four work sites of each affiliate each year, institute a safety and health curriculum for managers, and implement performance reviews for all affiliate presidents and safety and health directors
The company also will submit compliance reports to OSHA, report injuries and illnesses to the agency, and allow OSHA to monitor compliance with the agreement.
