Georgia Power has expanded the number of locations where customers can pay their monthly bills through Western Union and Fiserv’s CheckFreePay service.

The Atlanta-based utility said it has added more than 2,600 new payment locations at Walmart, Kmart, Kroger, Rite-Aid, Publix and other retail locations. The convenience, however, comes with a $1.50 transaction fee.

The new locations allow customers to pay bills after the utility’s 131 business offices close and on weekends. Credit cards and checks, however, will not be accepted, only cash and possibly debit cards at some locations, the company said.
