Foreclosures in metro Atlanta were up this month, partly due to a longer counting period, but the overall trend is toward a healthier housing market.

Gwinnett led the region with 482 foreclosures in April, up from 375 the month before, according to data released Monday morning by Kennesaw-based Equity Depot.

A total of 2,635 foreclosures were recorded in the region’s 13 counties, according to Equity Depot.

Despite the one-month increase from March, the numbers the region are dramatically lower than last year when April saw 5,008 foreclosures. That itself was an improvement from 2012, when there were 7,046 foreclosures in April.
