Need some extra cash for Christmas gifts? No worries. These metro Atlanta companies are making big seasonal hires for the holiday season.
The seasonal positions will be created at fulfillment centers, sorting centers and customer service sites in 27 states, including Georgia.
The shipping firm is hiring a total of 50,000 seasonal workers throughout its network — including the local openings — and will continue to hire throughout the holiday season.
The jobs include package handlers, drivers and other support positions. More than a third of the package handlers hired at FedEx ground facilities stayed on with the company for work after the holidays, according to FedEx.
Sandy Springs-based UPS has also begun hiring 95,000 seasonal workers for the holidays.
Kohl's is adding 69,000 associates this holiday season. While hiring began in August, jobs will be filled through mid-November.
The retailer is looking to hire 83,000 seasonal associates at its Macy's and Bloomingdale's stores, call centers, distribution centers and online fulfillment centers.
The company said that it plans to hire at least 70,000 seasonal workers during the busy fall and winter months.
Target also plans to hire an additional 7,500 people for distribution facilities, which ship online orders and send products to stores. The discount chain said it will hold hiring events at all of its 1,800 stores on Oct. 14 and 15. Candidates can also apply online. The company also said existing employees will get "first dibs" on any extra holiday hours they want.
The shipping company plans to hire about 95,000 seasonal and part-time workers to support the surge in business expected during the upcoming holiday shopping season.
The Sandy Springs, Georgia-based package-delivery giant said openings will include primarily package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers to help with the annual holiday rush from November through January.
