Help wanted! A recent report from the Society for Human Resource Management noted that a majority of recruiters cited a "low number of applicants" as their biggest challenge for filling open jobs.
But some industries are struggling more than others. These are the top 10 businesses that need more workers:

- High-skilled medical, such as nurses, doctors and specialists
- Scientists and mathematicians
- Skilled trades, such as electricians, carpenters, machinists, mechanics, welders and plumbers
- Engineering and architecture
- IT computer specialists, such as IT analysts, software developers and programmers and database administrators
- Executives
- High-skilled technicians, such as health, telecommunications and environmental technicians
- Transportation, such as drivers
- Construction and extraction workers in mining
- Community and social service workers, such as counselors, therapists and social workers
In Atlanta, the No. 1 spot translated to more than 1,000 nurse listings on Monster.com. Other category listings that had more than 1,000 jobs open in Atlanta included mathematicians and construction workers.
