Delta Air Lines has notified passengers that health concerns may affect travel to and from West Africa.
Atlanta-based Delta in a notice on its website said passengers flying out of Roberts International Airport in Monrovia, Liberia may be required to go through health screenings before entering the airport. The airline recommended passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours early, and said customers may see similar measures at the airport in Lagos, Nigeria.
“The health screenings are a precaution, in response to reported viral activity in West Africa,” the notice on Delta’s website reads. The airline said those whose flights are canceled or significantly delayed will be entitled to refunds. Delta operates several routes to Africa from New York and Atlanta.
Delta is also allowing customers with travel plans to, from or through Monrovia, Liberia; Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt, Nigeria; Freetown, Sierra Leone; and Conakry, Guinea to postpone their trips without paying certain change fees.
