A Cartersville aviation consultant who pleaded guilty to conspiracy was sentenced to more than three years in prison and ordered to pay $1.1 million in restitution to his victims.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General, Andrew K. Anderson had been contracted by SIA Engineering Co. to secure certificates for aircraft owned by Dubai Air Wing, a branch of the Dubai government that provides air transportation for government officials. Anderson forged Federal Aviation Administration certificates and gave them to Dubai Air Wing, purporting that they were issued by the FAA, according to the inspector general's office. Anderson pleaded guilty in July to his role in the forgery.
Anderson was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 37 months imprisonment plus three years of supervised release, along with the order to pay restitution, according to the inspector general’s office.
