Snow in metro Atlanta: Winter weather advisory, storm warning expire

The winter weather advisory for areas of north Georgia north of I-20 and the winter storm warning for the mountain counties expired at 10 a.m. Thursday and were replaced by a special weather statement from the National Weather Service warning that “slick roads will be possible through today in areas that had significant snowfall Wednesday and Wednesday night.”

The Weather Service also warned that melting snow and any wet roads will likely freeze Thursday night as temperatures fall below 32 degrees.

The winter storm that dumped more than a half-foot of snow across parts of north Georgia Wednesday and overnight has moved out of the state. While metro Atlanta interstates are wet but mostly ice free, roads in far northern suburbs were still covered with ice and snow early Thursday morning. Full story.
