Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) made clear over the weekend that he is not going to make a public apology on the House floor for his "You lie!" outburst that interrupted President Obama's speech to Congress last week.

Wilson told Fox News Sunday that he had already made his apology and that a new one isn't needed.

That came as Democrats were threatening to bring up a resolution the House floor this week which would rebuke Wilson for his "You lie!" line.

"The American people are fed up with the political games in Washington," Wilson said in a news release issued on Sunday.

"Health insurance reform is too important to take a backseat to political partisanship," Wilson concluded.

While some Republicans will undoubtedly back Wilson, it was clear late last week that House GOP Leader John Boehner wanted Wilson to go out on the floor and apologize from the Well of the House.

For Democrats, I'm sure they are more than happy to have Wilson extend this little in-House fight.

It allows them to characterize the Republican Party as one that's filled with a bunch of complete nutjobs, who have no respect for the President.

But those backing Wilson also argue that Democrats are just playing political games here, and that this is all for show from a party that wants to jam government health care down your throat.

(What's next?  Fistfights on the House floor, like those we see on TV from legislatures in other countries at times?)

As for Wilson, he loves to give a one minute speech at the start of each day's session, when lawmakers can be recognized to speak on any topic.

I sort of wonder, will a Democrat stand up and object to Wilson asking unanimous consent to speak for one minute unless he apologizes on the House floor?

Where is Howard Cosell when we need him to call this fight?
