The agency that licenses Georgia's police officers is reviewing why Union City Police Chief Charles Odom was forced out last month. It could lead to an investigation of his actions as chief, including a review of the controversial 2011 shooting of Ariston Waiters by Officer Luther Lewis.

Initially, the mayor said it had nothing to do with Waiters shooting, but later backpedaled and acknowledged it was in the back of his mind.
The Waiters case was part of the AJC/Channel 2's investigation last year that examined police shootings across Georgia. Our investigation of the Waiters shooting led Fulton County District Paul Howard to reopen the case last year.
We spoke to an officer in Union City who said Odom claimed that "Luther Lewis should be in prison and I took care of it."
Odom declined our requests for interview last year and again this week.
