Two Forsyth schools are the headline this past weekend in Class AAAAAA. South Forsyth won the 34th Annual Westover Invitational in Albany with a time of 19:15, moving them from No. 4 to No. 3. Savannah Carnahan and Kaylee DuPont ran first and second respectively in the individual race. Cross-town rival West Forsyth finished in second place at the same event with a time 19:42 to bump them from No. 8 all the way to No. 5. Their top runner Reagan Poteet finished fourth individually. Walton is the only new member in the rankings securing the No. 10 spot. The Raiders finished runner-up at the Cobb County Cross Country Championships with a time of 20:29, which was 17 seconds behind No. 7 Harrison.
Union Grove was the only top ten 10 to race this past weekend in Class AAAAA. Although the Wolverines won the Henry County XC Championships, they had an uncharacteristic time relative to their season standard. Their time of 21:23 moved them from No. 2 to No. 4.
Marist takes hold of the No. 1 ranking in Class AAAA after beating previously top-ranked St. Pius X at the FSU Invitational in Tallahassee, Florida this past weekend. Marist ran in fifth place with a time of 19:46, while St. Pius X finished in the tenth position with a time of 20:05. Buford and Chestatee are the new No. 9 and No. 10 ranked teams respectively. The Wolves finished seventh at the Mountain Invitational with a time of 22:07, and Chestatee finished one spot behind them with a time of 22:18.
The results at the Mountain Invitational caused some shake-up in the Class AAA rankings. Hart County finished fourth with a time of 20:59 vaulting them from No. 6 to No. 3. Dawson County fell from No. 2 to No. 4 after placing sixth with a time of 21:48. Oconee County moved up one spot to No. 7 after finishing in the 11th position with a time of 23:03.
Class AA sees no change this week in the rankings. The weekend's top time came from No. 1 Lovett who ran a 19:37 at the 34th Annual Westover Invitational to give them a third place finish. Haley Hooper grabbed third place in the individual race for Lovett.
Mount De Sales pulled off the second fastest time of the week in Class A-Private. They put together a sixth place finish at the 34th Annual Westover Invitational with a time of 21:51. Coming from out of the rankings, they are now the No. 7 ranked team. Walker also flexed its muscles as an unranked team finishing ninth at the Cobb County Cross Country Championships with a time of 23:12. Their performance gave them the No. 8 spot in this week's rankings.
