The Walton and Milton girls warmed up for another state tournament run by winning the prestigious DecoTurf High School Tennis Team Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn., while the Northview and Dunwoody boys finished second.

In Girls Division A, Walton beat Pace Academy 5-2, North Oconee 5-2, Jackson Academy of Mississippi 4-3 and defeated the Baylor School of Chattanooga 4-3 in the championship game. The Walton girls also  beat Etowah and clinched the Region 4-AAAAAAA championship. Liz Norman leads the Raiders at No. 1 singles.

In Girls Division B, Milton beat St. George’s of Collierville, Tenn., 6-1 and Sacred Heart of Louisville, Ky., 6-1 to reach the final, where the Eagles trounced Starr’s Mill 7-0. Starr’s Mill beat Assumption of Louisville, Ky., 4-3 and Morgantown, W.Va.,  4-3 to earn a spot in the championship.

In the Boys A Division, Northview defeated Marist 6-1, Heritage Hall of Oklahoma City 5-2, and St. Xavier of Louisville, Ky., 4-3 before losing to Spartanburg, S.C., 4-3 in the title match.

In the Boys B Division, Dunwoody beat Starr’s Mill 7-0, Etowah 4-3 and Brookwood 4-3 before losing to Niceville, Fla., 4-3 in the final. Brookwood defeated the Webb school of Knoxville (Tenn.) 5-2 to take third place and Milton beat North Gwinnett 7-0 to finish fifth.

Brantley boys, girls win Coastal Empire: The Brantley County boys and girls sharpened up for the region tennis tournaments by sweeping the Coastal Empire Tennis Classic at Bacon Park.

The Brantley County boys knocked off No. 1 seed Benedictine  3-2 in the first round and came back to defeat Savannah Country Day 4-1 in the championship match. Savannah Country Day’s lone point came at No. 1 singles, where Jarrett Karnibad improved to 10-0.

The Brantley girls beat St. Vincent’s and Screven County to reach the final, where they knocked off West Laurens 3-2.

First Presbyterian sweeps Middle Georgia titles: The First Presbyterian boys and girls won the Middle Georgia Tennis Invitational at Bleckley Count. The FPD girls beat Dodge County 3-2, defeated West Laurens 4-1 and downed South Effingham 3-2 in the final. The FPD boys blanked Dodge County 5-0, beat Telfair County 4-1 and turned back Bleckley County 3-2 in the championship match.

Granger Invitational: North Gwinnett won the 26th annual Granger Invitational Tennis Tournament, beating Dalton in the championship match.
