Sequoyah hosted the Sequoyah Classic Tournament for the 24th year this weekend. Starr's Mill took a 6-1 record to win the Silver Bracket. Dunwoody was a surprise team that quietly entered playoffs last year before catching fire en route to the semifinals. The Wildcats continue to impress and were off to a 7-0 start to the season before falling to Sequoyah in the semifinals of the Classic. Host Sequoyah sits at 7-0 to start and swept all seven opponents (Whitewater, Lambert, Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell, Dunwoody and East Coweta) to take the 32-team tournament this weekend. The unbeaten Chiefs host a star-studded tri-match with Johns Creek and Blessed Trinity Thursday night.
Harrison is off to a 10-0 start and swept Woodward Academy for the second time in three days on Monday before topping Pope 2-0 (25-19, 27-25) in the backend of the tri-match. Caroline Ostman recorded 15 kills and 14 digs in the two matches on Monday and Katie Doering posted a team-high 24 kills. Kaylee Morris led in assists with 55.
Lassiter swept its tri-match as well with a (25-14, 25-20) victory over host Riverwood and an easy (25-9, 25-5) sweep over Marietta.
The North Cobb Final Four Playday highlights Saturday's action and top programs Blessed Trinity, North Gwinnett, South Forsyth, North Cobb, Norcross and Etowah highlight the participants.
